Structural Design Engineer
EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD
Branch Engineering, Inc. has an immediate opening for a hard-working and detail-oriented Structural Design Engineer. This position is full-time and would work from our Springfield office. This position will work closely with our Structural Engineering Department to complete engineering projects across the Willamette Valley. We are looking for an engineer with a breadth of experience and the drive to continue their professional and personal development.
$35-$50 per hour; compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Discuss project scope with team managers.
- Prepare design documents and create or collaborate the creation of construction drawings.
- Perform structural calculations for permitting and client review.
- Perform field investigations of existing conditions.
- Attend meetings, communicate and coordinate with various project teams and disciplines, and collaborate and refine designs during the creation of project design drawings and structural calculations documents.
- Exhibit professional communication skills over various communication platforms.
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control in personal work.
- Make periodic site visits to observe construction activities.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a directly related discipline (preferred, but may be substituted with related qualifying experience).
- Professional Engineering license in at least one U.S. state with the ability to obtain licensure in other states required. Applicants must be able to obtain Oregon licensure within 6 months of date of hire.
- 5+ years of structural engineering work experience preferred.
- Experience creating designs and calculations employing a variety of common building materials (e.g. steel, wood, concrete, etc.).
- Fluency with the International Building Code (or Oregon Structural Specialty Code) structural provisions and referenced structural standards (ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, etc.).
- Ability to generate engineering drawings and/or supervise/direct drawing generation.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
